MUSKOKA ELITE COACHING STAFF | AGES 16+
Muskoka Elite is interested in working with people who share our mission to be a leaders in sport in Muskoka while empowering young minds to trust the learning process, believe in themselves, and achieve their goals. Coaches must be passionate about young people, they must strive for excellence and bring positivity to everything they do. Assistant Head Coach & Tumbling Coordinator. Tumbling is a central feature of cheerleading and as such encompasses a significant portion of our program offering at Muskoka Elite. A Tumbling Coordinator is expected to bring a strong understanding of the fundamental movements of tumbling to their classes as well as mastery of drills and progressions at all levels of the sport. The Tumbling Coordinator will be responsible to develop, plan and oversee all tumbling classes, private lessons, and curricula as well as train and educate coaches. Additionally, the position will also fulfil the role of Assistant Head Coach which will involve collaboration with gym management on strategic program development, season planning, and coaching cheer teams. The position includes administrative work overseeing a portfolio of operational responsibilities.

Cheerleading Coach. Experienced cheerleaders with valid ICU certifications are invited to apply to coach at Muskoka Elite Cheer & Tumbling. Cheer coaches should possess the knowledge and experience to motivate their teams, teach level-appropriate skills, drive results through a safe, progressive style of training and to inspire success among young people. Thorough knowledge of the Varsity Scoring System and IASF rules is required as well as CPR & First Aid certification. Compensation is commensurate with experience, education, and credentialing.

Tumbling Instructor. Tumbling is a central feature of the sport of cheerleading and as such encompasses a significant portion of our program offering at Muskoka Elite. Comparable to gymnastics power tumbling, tumbling classes focus on developing fundamental movements in participants as well as refining their agility, balance, and coordination. Skills taught include basic forward rolls and cartwheels at the lower levels, walkovers, handsprings and tucks at intermediate levels, and layouts and twisting layouts at the highest levels. Classes are typically one hour in duration and are scheduled once per week, September through March, with additional classes offered in shorter terms during the other six months of the year. Private lessons are also available at Muskoka Elite for tumbling instructors interested in one-on-one instruction roles.

Summer Camp Instructor. For 9 weeks during the summer, camp instructors are responsible for coordinating and overseeing units of up to 12 campers 5 days a week, 8:30am-5:00pm, at our facility in Bracebridge. Units are also combined into teams to learn stunts, tumbling, jumps, and a routine to perform on Friday each week. Instructors will work together to coach skills and routines during 4 designated periods each day. Strong class management skills are required as well as proficiency in gymnastics and cheerleading instruction. Ages 15+.

Preschool Gymnastics Instructor. As part of our broader strategic framework, Muskoka Elite plans to serve our local community with a preschool gymnastics program which will target young families with children under four years old. It will focus on developing the fundamental movements of sport - swing, spring, rotation, twisting, jumping, landing, locomotions, static positions, projection, and reception - in a stimulating, fun, and exploratory environment that builds and reinforces agility, balance, coordination, and spatial awareness in young children. Parented classes for our youngest participants will be offered to facilitate sensory and exploratory learning. Instructors will plan, prepare, execute, and iterate lesson plans to achieve defined outcomes while creating and maintaining positive relationships with young families. This role has the potential to develop into a Preschool Gymnastics Coordinator position in future.

FUTURE LEADERSHIP PROGRAM | AGES 12-15
The Future Leaders Program offers two streams to help young people to build a coaching foundation and gain valuable experience to use in the real world. Our Junior Leaders and Coaches in Training learn about class management, practice planning, skills development and progressive drills.
Junior Leaders. Young teens ages 12 & 13 years old who have a passion to share cheerleading with children are invited to apply to be Junior Leaders. Participants are assigned to work with a team and develop basic coaching skills while learning about hard work, service, child learning, commitment, and leadership under the supervision of a certified cheer coach. Positions are limited and are available on a volunteer-basis only.

Coaches in Training. Teens ages 14 who want to refine their knowledge and pursue coaching certifications are invited to apply to be a Coach in Training. Participants learn the International All Star Federation rules as well as the Varsity Scoring System while coaching along side a certified cheerleading coach. They learn about stunt and tumbling theory, how to develop skills, and how to practice plan effectively. Coaches in Training are also introduced to concepts in athletic development and periodization. Coaches in Training are offered specialized in-class education to help them prepare for their coaching exams to ensure they are successful in securing their certifications. Positions are limited and are offered on a volunteer-basis only.
