Muskoka Elite offers one of the strongest tumbling programs in the region with qualified instructors and a suite of equipment to learn skills safely and effectively. Cartwheels, walkovers, handsprings, and power tumbling are a core element of cheerleading. Muskoka Elite offers specialized classes to train these skills in a safe, productive, and technically sound manner. Class descriptions are below with the required requisite skills for each class. CLASS DESCRIPTIONS
Tumbling Tots
Ages:
2yrs, Parented Class
3yrs, Semi-Parented Class
4yrs, Unparented Class
Focus: Strengthening agility, balance, coordination, and spacial awareness through the development of sport-specific motor movements including jumping, leaping, landings, rolls, twists, basic static positions, projection, reception, and various locomotions.
Requisite skills: None. Participants must be potty trained unless it is a parented class.
Tumbling Basics
Ages 5-8yrs
Focus: Strengthening of fundamental motor movements and developing skills including handstands, bridges, rolls, & cartwheels.
Requisite skills: None
Walkover Class
Ages 6+
Focus: Strengthening fundamental skills with a focus on learning advanced level one skills including front walkovers and back walkovers.
Requisite skills: Bridge, handstand, and cartwheel. Handstand on wall for 60 seconds.
Handspring Class
Ages 6+
Focus: Learning and strengthening handspring movements with strong emphasis on developing the standing back handspring. Front handsprings are also introduced.
Requisite skills: Strong bridge, and strong front and back walkovers. Handstand on wall for 90 seconds.
Power Tumbling
Ages 8+
Focus: Training the round off. Strong emphasis on connecting handsprings into technically sound power tumbling. Series back and front handsprings are introduced as well as introduction to block angles.
Requisite skills: Strong standing back handspring. Round off back handspring. Handstand on wall for 90 seconds.
